The Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is the industry standard credential for pool and aquatic facility operators. Issued by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), it covers water chemistry, equipment operation, safety, and regulatory compliance. Many states and municipalities require CPO certification for commercial pool operators.
CPO certifications are valid for 5 years from the date of issue. OATI offers renewal courses when your certification is approaching expiration.
No prerequisites are required to enroll in a CPO course. The curriculum is designed to be accessible to anyone working in or entering the aquatic facility industry.
Students who do not pass the CPO exam on the first attempt may retake it. Our instructors are available to help you prepare and identify areas for review before a retake.
Absolutely. Group enrollments are available for facilities looking to certify multiple staff members. We can also bring the course directly to your facility. Contact us to discuss group pricing and on-site scheduling options.
Yes — OATI can schedule in-person CPO courses at your facility. This is a great option for organizations certifying multiple staff members at once. Reach out through the registration form and let us know you're interested in on-site training.
